EFFECTIVE PROBLEM-SOLVING AND DECISION-MAKING

 

Program Objective: The “Effective Problem-Solving and Decision-Making” program is designed to equip Managers/Leaders with the insight  to approach problems with a different perspective.  Managers deal with a variety of challenges in their daily working lives. Leading a team and managing performance to deliver results is often a challenge for managers. It is important that  managers acquire the  necessary skills and techniques to systematically solve  problems  and make the most appropriate  decisions for any situation.

The program  will address the capabilities required for effective problem solving and decision making. The program focuses on the ability to understand a situation or problem, the importance or severity of any situation and the capabilities required to systematically resolve any given problem.

Target Audience  

  • Existing Managers operating in  any industry/sector

  • Newly promoted managers or lower level employees  with managerial or team leadership responsibilities

  • Any employees considered as high potential and candidates for future supervisory or managerial roles.

  • Understanding different perspectives of a problem

  • Defining decision-making, the  5 levels of decision-making

  • Learning how to improve analytical skills, critical thinking and lateral thinking

  • Introducing the problem-solving and decision-making process

  • Learning and practicing

  • Step 1 – Defining the problem - 

  • Step 2 – Identifying the root cause through applicable tools – Fishbone, 5 Why’s

  • Step 3 – Developing alternate solutions – mind mapping

  • Step 4 – Selecting the solution – SWOT analysis/ the Decision-Making Matrix

  • Step 5 – Implementation of the solution

  • Step 6 – Evaluation of the outcomes

Learning Methods

The program is designed to be highly interactive and participative. Attendees will  participate in case studies, role-plays and a team exercise. Each module is supported by trainer inputs on key concepts,  utilising the   individual/ team exercises, group discussion, training activities and videos of relevant topics. Participants will have opportunities to demonstrate their learnings through the various activities. Each participant will receive a self-learning workbook for future reference.
