RESOLVING CONFLICT

 

Program Objective: The “Resolving conflict” program is designed to equip Managers/Leaders with an understanding of their role in resolving disagreements, disputes, and differences of opinions. Leading teams and managing performance to deliver results is often a challenge for managers especially those recently promoted into managerial roles. It is an essential requirement for  managers, irrespective of the industries they operate in , to understand and learn skills and techniques which help them to effectively resolve conflicts to result in collaborative and amicable outcomes.

The program attempts to address one of the most commonly encountered problems  in the workplace. If there are two individuals, there is very likely  to be a  difference of opinion at some point in time. The program focuses on identifying  early potential signs of disagreement, dealing with conflict behaviour and techniques and tools for overcoming conflicts in the workplace.

  • Existing Managers  operating in  any industry/sector

  • Newly promoted managers or  lower level employees with managerial or team leadership responsibilities. 

  • Any employees  considered as high potential  and candidates for future   supervisory or managerial roles.

  •  Awareness of the typical reactions to  conflict.  

  • Identifying and dealing with the impact of conflict  

  • Awareness of the different kinds of behaviour during conflict 

  • Segregating the four different styles of conflict 

  • Understanding the stages of conflict 

  • Developing the ability to filter out emotions from the issue

  • Studying Robert Bacal’s CARP model 

  • Analysing the nuances of the four stages of Control, Acknowledge, Refocus, and Problem Solving 

  • Studying Thomas Killman’s Model   of  Conflict Resolution Styles 

  • Analysing the  Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” to enhance  conflict  resolution performance .  

Learning Methods

The program is designed to be highly interactive and participative. Attendees will  participate in case studies, role-plays and a team exercise. Each module is supported by trainer inputs on key concepts,  utilising the   individual/team exercises, group discussion, training activities and videos of relevant topics. Participants will have opportunities to demonstrate their learnings through the various activities. Each participant will receive a self-learning workbook for future reference.
